Subject: 2020 Summit County Stand Down COVID-19 Information

The Executive Board and the Stand Down Committee have been deliberating on the status of the 2020 Summit County Stand Down, in light of the COVID-19 situation.

More and more organizations are saying they would rather NOT conduct the Stand Down this year due to the ever-changing guidelines from county, state and federal officials.

We are trying to save some small piece of this for 2020. If you are personally uncomfortable participating in the stand down for any reason, please bow out. No one will judge you. We each have to do what is best for ourselves, our organization and the public we serve while the executive board carefully tries to find a balance of caution and service to support our community of homeless, displaced, or disadvantaged Veterans.

If the event is to happen this year, it will more than likely have more of a resource fair theme, in that we would connect Veterans to the organizations who express a capability of COVID-19 modified support.

Most are volunteers, and as one might imagine, are being swamped with numerous calls.

Please do not call members from the Stand Down Committee, nor the Executive Board directly, as it will further impede deliberations. If you, or your organization still feels like you are able to participate in any way, please send me an email at [email protected].

Your comments will be forwarded to the Board and Committee Chairs for resolution.

Please stay tuned to this page for updates.

On behalf of the Summit County Stand Down,

Thank you!
